Bridging the Gender Pain Gap 2025

Victoria’s Government’s Inquiry Into Women’s Pain - Bridging the Gender Pain Gap 2025

The Victorian Government's Inquiry Into Women’s Pain - Bridging the Gender Pain Gap 2025 addresses disparities in pain management and treatment access for women. It highlights the unique challenges women face in healthcare, particularly around pain perception and treatment. The inquiry seeks to improve recognition of women's pain and advocate for tailored healthcare solutions to bridge the existing gender gap in pain management.

In response to this inquiry, the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) released a joint statement alongside Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), The Faculty of Pain Medicine ANZCA (FPM), the Australian Pain Society (APS) and the New Zealand Pain Society (NZPS) supporting the need for more research and awareness concerning women's pain issues. AGES emphasises the importance of ensuring that healthcare systems adequately address the specific needs of women, promoting equitable treatment pathways and reducing health disparities in pain management and overall care.
